Do you feel overworked?

overworked

Do you feel overworked? Do you feel the promises of “rest for your soul” seem elusive?

Today I am digging into the specific creation and “birthing” of man as God specifically tells us from each word he uses in Genesis.  What I have been finding is very exciting to me because it reveals God’s goodness.  However, I will try to keep my excitement and emotions down.  It seems the skeptics stop listening then.  I simply want all to see what God’s Word truly reveals about who he is and we can ALL celebrate him together instead of excluding others.

I want all of us to find the promised rest for their souls.  Isn’t this life so overwhelming at times?

How do we find the promised rest for our souls?  Is this what Jesus meant when he said to “become like children”?

And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven Matthew 18:2-3

So, what does it mean to “become like children”?

Here are some thoughts to consider.

Does a child work for what they need? Or do they simply trust that their parents will provide for them?

Do children have very big and open minds and imaginations?  They don’t limit God and “possibility” like the “mature” grownups do, do they?

Could this be what we need to become in order to enter the Kingdom of heaven?  How do we do that when our lives seem so chaotic at times and the stresses and pressures mount?

What if we don’t?  What if it isn’t our job to “do it”?  Wouldn’t that be awesome to simply rest?

I pray you will become “as a child.  I pray your mind and heart will be open to anything that God presents to you. I pray that you can learn to simply trust him as your parent for ALL your needs.

I believe it starts with questioning everything we believe about God.  Is that what the Bible really says and teaches?  If not, could that be why life is so hard?   Wouldn’t a “child” look at the Word God gave us and simply believe it?

If your tradition taught you otherwise, you may have to decide whether it is really giving you the rest that Jesus promised for our souls.  The Bible says that “love never fails” and that “God is love”.  Would this mean that if we feel we are failing that we may be missing the TRUE God?  What if our religion has been wrong about God all along?  Isn’t it possible that the Jesus you have been taught is different than the true Jesus as revealed only in his Word and in your own heart?

Do you want to believe the tradition handed down to you or God’s Word directly?

Believing God directly at his Word will cost us at first, but in the end it yields a harvest of both rest and righteousness.  Some of us more and some of us less, but it will cost us upfront.  We will have to give up a lot of religious bondage and baggage that part of us is clinging onto very tightly.  Also, we will be persecuted by the “Pharisees and teachers of the law” who want to hold onto the law and traditions of man instead of seeking only the truth found in Jesus.  Contrary to what they have taught us, Jesus is WIDE OPEN FREEDOM to be the person he created you to be!  Jesus does not FORCE us to do anything we don’t want to like “going door to door” or even “reading your Bible”.  Anything Jesus wants us to do he creates a strong desire inside us out of feeding love and freedom to others in the bondage of darkness.  My friend, he will create in you a WANT to do the things he desires to do in and through you.

It will be like struggling financially for a long time and discovering today you won the lottery and you now have millions of dollars.  You have so much that you WANT to share it with others to help them too.  However, the twist is that you will find when you go to them and begin to tell them this amazing thing, they will say “We are told we are poor and to not listen to people like you.  Please go away.”  This is a sad spot, but you don’t ever give up because it really is the Lord inside you doing these things.  He never gives up on us.

Jesus never gives up and is NOT closed minded.

No, my friend, the REAL and TRUE Jesus is so open, amazing, big and awesome that once you see and begin to truly KNOW him inside you that you will WANT to do so many things you never did before.  You will WANT to tell others about him.  They will think “oh ya, I have heard about him and ‘tried that’ but it didn’t work”.  They do NOT know or have seen the TRUE Jesus. They only know the version that the traditions of man have taught them.  A version of law where you must do the work.  You must read so much of your Bible each day, you must attend church on Sunday, you must give and tithe or volunteer.  You must, you must.

My friend, that is NOT the TRUE Jesus.

He requires NONE OF THAT!  He only wants YOU and look where he wants you.

Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”  Luke 10:38-42

Friend, please ponder what the Lord is saying here.

Mary and Martha are two types of people.  One is always “busy and distracted with preparations” or work and “doing”.  However, look at what Mary her sister is doing.

Sitting at the feet of Jesus and simply listening to his word.

Look at what Jesus says how many things are necessary.

ONE.

And who is doing that “one needful thing”.

Mary!  And the Lord calls this the “good part”.

This is what the Lord says is the ONLY needful thing to “do”.

Sit at his feet, rest and simply listen to his word.

How do we do that?

Forget your traditions, open your mind to anything, begin studying the word and ask God to reveal to you what it says.

Then sit and listen.

No need to go anywhere or do anything.

I have found that journaling what I hear and think is VERY helpful.   God speaks to us in our own thoughts.  His is a still small voice that sounds just like our thoughts.  He is speaking to us all the time we simply do not recognize his voice.   You will begin to discern it after a while once you journal and ponder where he takes you in his written Word.  Just follow your heart because that is where he is.

But, you can’t open your heart if your mind is closed.

I pray you will hear these words and try them.  I believe a WHOLE new world and LIFE is waiting for those who will.  It’s their REAL life that has been created from even BEFORE this world was. It will simply “appear” or be “birthed” form within in an amazing and powerful way.  It will flow out like “rivers of living waters” into ALL areas of your current life and relationships and astonish you and all who know you.

Will you please try it?  There is nothing to lose that is worthwhile and only life to gain.

(Those were words spoken to your heart where love exists.  A heart has to be open to hear them.  Now, let me speak to the (outer) human mind where logic and law exists.  These words can be tougher to hear but are for those still under law in the outer man.)

I guess I have always been open to the truth and new ideas.  That is why I find God’s Word so amazing and fascinating.  MUCH of what we have been taught to believe I am finding, is often contrary to what his Word actually says in the original language.  Also, we lose a lot in the translations and sometimes even the most-literal translation such as the New American Standard or NASB can’t tell us the whole truth.  Then, we need to compare the original words on a site like biblehub.com or blueletterbible.org.  Blueletterbible.org is more visually appealing, but Biblehub.com is more precise revealing the specific tense and specific usage of each word.  I find it invaluable when digging for the deepest and real truth.

So, you will have a choice to make.  Will you trust man’s tradition handed down or what God’s Word specifically reveals?  I pray you are willing to set aside the traditions of man and go solely with God’s very written and 100% precise and 100% detailed and 100% accurate Word.  Once you open your heart and mind ONLY to what his Word, the Bible reveals, a powerful thing will occur.

You will start to HEAR THE VERY LIVING WORD inside you!  This is Jesus who is the LIVING Word and the TRUE God.  See, the written Word of God is but an image or pointer in this realm that points directly the Son of God who has been given authority to reveal the Father God to us.  They are both one, but they act in tandem because the Father can’t reveal himself directly to us without killing us.  This is also why we must die to see God.  We are born as humans in a realm of darkness and bodies of darkness and have to die a progressive death in order to become pure enough to see God face to face.

Well, friend, I started here wanting to share specific technical details about the Genesis 1 creation of man.  However, God had different plans for this post.

I pray he opens our minds and hearts to receive him and what he wants to reveal to us.  I pray we are reminded today in all the aspects of our lives that he is present inside us and even as us.

I pray this feeds us peace no matter what the outer circumstances of life bring us.  It’s all part of his divine plan for us to gather us all up into his family of son’s and daughters.

God bless,

Duane
