“Trashing traditions” – When did SIN enter the World?

Good evening,

Sadly, I continue to hear so many preachers and teachers of God’s Word coming down so hard on “sin” (as bad behavior).  This has to result in condemnation to others and themselves!  Pointing out others sins is always judging, isn’t it?  Only the condemned will condemn others.  There’s no doubt that sin is destructive to us and our lives.  There’s no doubt that we are all affected by it and will ALL die because of it. I get all that and I hope you do too.

However, it is also very important that we understand that sin is no longer defined as behaviors, but instead unbelief of the truth. Check out the other things I have shared if this is news for you.  This is the TRUE gospel!  If you believe Christ paid for and really REMOVING all your sins, you will not die.  Your body will, but you won’t.  You have already passed over from death and into life regardless of behavior.  Behavior is only for those under law.  We are all condemned then because NONE of us can behave PERFECT like the law REQUIRES!

When this truth hits a person that Christ removed ALL their SIN, their behavior WILL change.  That is the way it works.  That is tremendously good “news”!  News is done and over, we don’t make it happen.

Back to “sin”.

Do you ever wonder “When did sin enter the world”?

“Oh, that’s easy!” I used to think.  “Adam sinned and then we all died”.

That is until God revealed three powerful verses to me that completely revealed the powerful and amazing truth to me.

First, look at Romans 5:12-13.

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned– for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law Romans 5:12-13

From these two verses, we know that “sin entered through one man” and that “sin was in the world BEFORE the law as given”.

So, who was that “man”?

We are told it is Adam and when he sinned by eating the forbidden fruit, this caused sin to spread to all people.  If this is what you understand, you are in for a real SHOCKER!

When was the law given?

Was it to Moses on Mt. Sinai?  That, too, is what I used to think and believe.  It would make sense, the law was given to Moses but sin entered through Adam in the Garden before this time.  That would all fit with Romans 5:12-13.

If this is what you were taught and believe, let me share something very powerful if you believe the Bible to be true.   I pray the Lord opens our eyes to this.

Look at this powerful verse.  I mean really look at it carefully and think about what it is saying while asking yourself again “when was the law given“?

The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17

Is this not law?  Could this be the HIDDEN truth that God was referring to in Romans 5:12-13 when the “law was given”?

Yes, it is my friend!

As a result of this very first law that God gave Adam and ALL OF US, we were doomed to come under sin and death.  As a result of when God first truly gave the law to Adam in the Garden, ALL people’s consciences had the law written into them.  Look at these scriptures:

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings  Genesis 3:6-7

in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them  Romans 2:15

When Adam and Eve took the spiritual fruit of the LAW into their being, this “opened their eyes” and produced a guilty conscience inside of ALL mankind.  This is what God calls an EVIL, unbelieving heart!

Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God Hebrews 3:12

The truth is that because the law is embedded or written into man’s hearts, he feels guilty and thus can NOT believe the true gospel.  Guilt always produces hiding and works of some sort.  This all happened when Adam was give the law and command of “do not eat”.  He and all us plunged into death and condemnation.

He could do NOTHING else.  The law always kills anything that ISN’T GOD no matter what!  The law ALWAYS brings about God’s wrath and ministers death to man.  Romans 4:15

This, my friend is when the law was first given to man and it seriously impacted ALL man of all times!

Now, once that settles in, let’s go back to what we understand from Romans 5:13 and prepare to be surprised.

Sin was in the world BEFORE the law was given!

How can this be?

Please don’t allow your natural human mind to reconcile this away somehow.  IMHO this is critical to seeing the true Gospel because it shows us the TRUTH about sin and man’s will.  THEY ARE NOT RELATED!

If the law was given to Adam in the garden and sin was in the world BEFORE the law, this means that sin would have to have been here BEFORE Adam ate the fruit.

Is that possible?

Not only possible, but I just spent 6 hours attempting to share with an enormous amount of scripture as to “how and why” but I guess the time wasn’t right yet.  Let me give you some clues for now to think and dig to see what God reveals to you.  Here are some questions to ask yourself and the Lord in his Word.

Could there be another “man” who is NOT the “man” (Adam) we think Romans 5:13 is referring to?

God Genesis 1 “man” who was “created” actually be DIFFERENT than the Genesis 2:7 “Adam” who was “formed”?

Could the “wheat” and the “tares” that grow together “alongside each other” be a huge clue?

Could the Genesis 2:7 man be the “wheat” and the Genesis 1:27 man be the “tare” yet they together form one “man”?  Could Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 be totally separate times and REALMS?

How could such things be?

Here are a couple more related questions that will help.

Could “darkness” (evil) have already existed in the World BEFORE any man was created or “formed” in EITHER Genesis 1 or 2?  Hint: See Genesis 1:2.  Do you see any “darkness” (evil) there before any man was created?

What about when God curses the serpent in Genesis 3?  He says you are “cursed MORE than all cattle”.

When did God curse the “cattle”?   I can’t find that anywhere.  Could the “cattle” have already been cursed?

Deep and awesome things to ponder.

God bless and have a great time digging into these things.  May the Lord unveil our hearts and minds to the powerful TRUTH!
