Ever wonder about the theory of “Evolution” or the true age of the earth?
Many scientists argue the Earth is millions or possibly even billions of years old and that humans “evolved” from the animals.
Bible scholars believe the earth is roughly 7,000 to 10,000 years old (based on the generations revealed) and that we were formed from the dust of the ground and God put his spirit inside us.
First, does God’s Word give us any indication that we may have evolved from animals?
The answer may greatly surprise you.
First of all, let’s properly define “animals”. It’s God’s Word spiritual or natural? Spiritual, right? So, are the “animals” he talks about spiritual “animals” or natural “animals”?
Is it possible they are not physical, earthly animals, but rather spiritual animals?
This may sound crazy at first, but could there actually be scriptural evidence on “man’s evolution from spiritual animals”?
This one may be a stretch, but it is the thought that comes to mind when I deeply study scripture in its original languages and words.
Is it possible that from Gods very high and holy perspective that he God calls the lowest form of natural man a “beast (animal) of the field” and the true or spiritual man is his “master” spirit in the higher realm?
Do you think God knows your inner spirit man directly? Or does he only know your natural outer man (in your natural body)?
Could this outer, natural man whom God possibly calls an “animal” of the field “evolve” over time into his true spiritual being as a true spiritual “man” or “woman” who is a child of God himself?
Something to ponder and possibly go back through Genesis to see what it is really saying. Maybe there is much more to this idea of “evolving from animals” than we first realized. Maybe the words of Jesus in Luke 17:21 when he said “the Kingdom of God is within you” have much more meaning now?
Speaking of comparing “spiritual” with “natural”, have you ever considered the idea of “time” in God’s Word?
“Is it also possible that physical earthly time is much different than spiritual time?” Could this maybe be why we can’t reconcile science and God’s Word when it comes to the age of the Earth?
I know I would think these questions are totally crazy if I hadn’t see these things in scripture!
First, let’s look at time.
How long REALLY is “a day”?
Is it a literal 24 hour day like we are familiar with? Or is it something completely different?
Check out what the Lord God said to the man in Genesis 2:16-17
The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17
Interesting, isn’t it?
The Lord God says the man will die in the very day he eats of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We know God can’t lie, so this has to occur.
So, how long does he live after eating the fruit? Let’s see in Genesis 5:5.
So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died Genesis 5:5
According to Genesis 5:5, he lived nine hundred and thirty years. That surely doesn’t sound like “a day”, does it?
Or does it?
Is it possible we don’t fully understand what “a day” for the Lord God is?
So, how long is “a day” for the Lord?
Let’s look at the words of Peter.
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day 2 Peter 3:8
Peter tells us something very interesting and revealing about what “a day” is for the Lord. Psalm 90:4 backs this up as well.
For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night Psalm 90:4
Do you see how long “a day” is when God speaks it?
It is “like a thousand years“.
There are other scriptures to back up this powerful truth.
Logical conclusion 1: 1 spiritual “Day” = A thousand earthly years
So, when did Adam actually die?
So, if we go back and look at when Adam died after eating the fruit, we can see that it was after 930 years. Now, if (with God) “a day” is equal to a thousand years, can you see that Adam did, indeed die before the full spiritual day (of a thousand years) ended?
As a matter of fact, there is no one who ever lives a full “day” of a thousand years. The longest is Methuselah who lived 969 “years” in Genesis 5:27 which is still short of 1 (spiritual) “day”. (Notice the numbers?)
With the understanding of what a true spiritual “day” is, we can begin to understand that the “Seven days of creation” are not standard 24 hour earthly days but are very long spiritual days. The beginning and end of them are also set by God himself so we also can’t simply measure out a “thousand earthly years”. God does not allow man to “figure it out” or he will try to be in control. Even the phrase “a thousand years” is not actual earthly physical years, but let’s not go too deep. For now, just keep in mind the following:
A spiritual “day” is very very long and only God sets and causes the beginning and the end of it.
Can you begin to see why we have so much trouble trying to agree on the “true age of the Earth”?
Can you begin to see why if we take the actual physical earthly “days and years” along with the ages of natural people that we may end up with an earth around 7,000 to 10,000 years?
However, proven science and archeological finds reveal that the earth is actually MUCH older than that. Possibly millions or even billions of years!
Do you see how that ALSO is possible (and more likely IMHO) once we understand that time with God is MUCH different from physical time on Earth?
I am going to stretch this even more and ask the follow totally absurd question. Is it possible that the entire “Earth” was put together in “parts” over different ages or “generations”? Look at Genesis 2:4.
This is the account (the generations) of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven Genesis 2:4
Did you know that the word translated as “the account” actually means “the generations“? It’s the same, exact word used in Ruth 4:18 that I have highlighted below.
Now these are the generations of Perez: to Perez was born Hezron Ruth 4:18
Thus, we can conclude that both “the heavens” and “the earth” have many “generations” or versions of them.
This is also revealed to us in Hebrews 1:10-12. This also explains why “the earth was without form and void” in Genesis 1:2. She was in the middle of “changing her garments”!
DON’T PEEK, she is naked as are her children made of her “dust”. Gen 2:25
Are you beginning to see how we can start to reconcile both theories of the “ages of the earth” into one “truth”? Could this be the very “ministry of reconciliation” Paul talks about in 2 Cor 5:11-21?
It is very much possible and very probable based on scripture and science that the earth is millions or even billions of years old because we don’t understand that with God “a day” and “a year” is much, much longer than we know on physical earth.
Was natural man originally a “beast of the field”?
This one could go on forever as it is very intricate and detailed. But, I will leave you with a “homework assignment” to look into and think about.
First, look at the actual food that God said he gave to Noah in Genesis 9:3. Please use a literal translation like the NASB or KJV or a site like Biblehub.com or Blueletterbible.org.
Now, go back to Genesis 1 when man was first created and answer the following question.
Who exactly was given that food that God told Noah he had originally given him? The very same food of “Noah” in Genesis 9:3 is also in Genesis 1:30. God calls it “green herbage”.
Interesting, isn’t it?
What is God saying that Noah used to be before chapter “9” of “The Genesis”?
Here is more to look into that I believe is fully related. Study the “Earthly (spiritual) kingdoms” in Daniel 1-7. Watch how the “powerful King Nebuchadnezzar” was given the “mind of a beast” and made to “live with the animals” for “seven periods of time” but after that he “repented” and was given back his kingdom. Dan 4:16, 4:33, 5:21.
Is this revealing much more than we thought at first? Could we maybe understand where the idea of man “evolving from the animals” actually came from?
Could it be written into all man’s hearts because, according to Paul in Acts 17:27-29, he is the father of us all?
Is it possible we can begin to “bridge the gap” between those who believe in “evolution” and those who believe “in scripture”?
What if there is but one hidden truth that includes aspects of both of them?
God bless and may the Lord give us eyes to see and ears to hear.
P.S. I hope to share soon about the one topic I have avoided thus far, but is scattered all throughout the entire scripture.
It is obvious that God absolutely loves this topic. What is it?
Sex. It is amazing to see what the actual words reveal that he gave us. I have concluded over and over that “God is crazy about sex”.
Have a great Friday.
